Driver (Class B) - University Village

Department: Plant Operations
Salary/Hourly Rate: $DOE - $DOE Per Hour

University Village Thousand Oaks is currently hiring a full time Class B Driver, to work Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. The Driver is responsible for the timely and safe transporting of residents to various individual and group activities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES: 

  • Picks up and delivers residents to all scheduled activities where transportation is needed.
  • Completes a safety check of the vehicles before transporting residents to and from scheduled trips or activities.
  • Accurately records vehicle mileage and resident attendance for all scheduled transportation.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicle, inside and out.
  • Transports vehicle to service locations for routine preventive maintenance on vehicles as scheduled by supervisor.
    • Maintains all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition.
    • Accomplishes all work in the order of priority set by supervisor.
  • Notifies supervisor of necessary bus repairs and vehicle malfunctions.
  • Notifies supervisor of resident concerns, problems, or incidents immediately.
  • Makes miscellaneous runs for management errands as necessary.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Promotes/protects resident rights.
  • Complies with abuse prevention and reporting policies and procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Uses chain of command to communicate problems or grievances.
  • Participates in staff meetings and mandatory in-services as required.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:                                                           

  • At least 1 year recent professional driving experience.  Driving for a senior facility a plus.
  • High School education.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. 
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a California Class B driverís license with passenger endorsement and demonstrate good driving skills. Must have no traffic violations for the past two years.
  • Must have a current medical exam and have a valid DL 51 Certificate
  • Shall hold or obtain within 90 days certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Ability to think quickly and act appropriately in emergency situations.
  • FBI and DOJ criminal record clearance
  • Must be able to maintain a courteous, friendly and helpful attitude with the residents at all times.
  • Must be able to interpret and follow map directions.


TESTING REQUIREMENTS: 

Applicants for this position are required to complete a computer-based Customer Service Aptitude test. After you complete the application and apply for the position, an email confirmation will be sent to you. On the email is a link to the Criteria Test Center. Please complete the test at a time that is convenient for you. Be aware, once you begin the test, you will not be able to 'come and go' on the testing site. You must complete the test in one sitting. The test is multiple choice, and will take about 30 minutes. You will not be considered for this position until the test has been completed. Check your spam filter if you do not receive the confirmation email.
